Chrome OS, Google's new operating system, is based on the Chrome web browser. We can develop extensions and applications for the Chrome OS platform. The Chrome OS Web Store is already available. Developing extensions and applications for Chrome OS tablets and laptops is basically the same as developing extensions and applications for the Chrome web browser. Most of the code is written in Java Script. Having a server side is not mandatory. When developing one we are free to select which ever technology we are interested at. We can test our work on the Chrome web browser. The outcome is basically the same as if we were testing our code on Chrome OS tablet or a laptop. The Chrome OS Web Store already includes thousands of applications, extensions and themes. The business model is based on revenues sharing of 70% in favor of the developer. Basically, we can take nearly every web application and turn it into a Chrome OS one. This course teaches how to develop extensions for the Chrome OS platform. It covers how to develop applications as well. It goes through the steps of developing a simple extension and elaborate on the various capabilities such as changing the document object model of a browsed web page and adding actions to the web browser itself. Developing extensions and applications for the Chrome OS platform is relatively simple. The following two video clips show how to develop a simple extension.
