Tha android platform allows us to develop small app widgets the user can later embed into the home screen application. 

The app widgets are small application views we can embedd into other activities, such as the home screen. The app widgets are ideal for applications that aim at providing their user with an informative small view displayed on screen as part of the home screen application. Once the user has installed an app widget application he can install the app widget onto the home screen by placing a long key press on screen and choosing the app widget from the list of the available app widgets. We are free to include within our app widget nearly every view the android platform includes. Nevertheless, we better follow google's design guidelines in order to get an app widget that seamlessly integrate into the android platform. This course explains how to develop an android app widget in accordance with google's guidelines and explains how to develop an activity the user will be able to use in order to customize the installed app widgets. This course doesn't explain the android fundamental topics and it assumes that the students are already familiar with the android platform and already have practical experience developing for it.
